It’s not something we see very often; take two intelligent, eloquent public speakers with abrasive wit and passionately-held opposing viewpoints and put them on a stage and point cameras at them and let them fight it out and see if you learn anything. Amy Goodman from Democracy Now did a wonderful just doing just that.
The Speakers:
Christopher Hitchens, a writer and columnist. He is the author of numerous books, including “Thomas Jefferson: Author of America.” He was formerly a socialist and a fixture in the publications of the British and American left, but a series of disagreements beginning in the early 1990s led to his resignation from The Nation shortly after the September 11, 2001 attacks.

George Galloway, a British MP. He’s married to a Palestinian woman and is harshly opposed to Israel and the US invasion of Iraq. He was expelled from the Labour Party in October 2003 after controversial statements against the 2003 invasion of Iraq.

I really liked the format of the debate. Each side really got plenty of time to make a good case. Fairly enlightening too. It’s refreshing to hear someone intelligent make a case for the invasion of Iraq instead of just the Rush Limbaugh-type morons.
